Joanna Griffiths founded Knix in Toronto, and in 2022 Essity, the Stockholm-listed Swedish hygiene company, bought 80% of it for US$320 million, with Griffiths keeping the other 20% and staying on to run the brand (Essity's announcement, plus Retail Dive and Retail TouchPoints coverage of the closing in September 2022). Not US-owned, but not Canadian-owned either. The domain key is knix.ca because knix.com charges USD.
