Genuinely interesting history: originally Canadian (Canadian Pacific Hotels acquired majority interest in 1999), but the Fairmont brand was later sold and is now owned by Accor, a French hospitality group — not US-owned, and no longer Canadian-owned either despite the brand's Canadian roots and many landmark Canadian properties (Banff Springs, Château Frontenac).
